Can I transfer a character from one server to another in LOTRO?

What is a World Character Transfer? 

A World Character Transfer is when Turbine moves or relocates a character from one world to another.  For example, if your character currently resides on Brandywine and you would like to play with your friends on Firefoot, we would perform a World Character Transfer from Brandywine to Firefoot.

 

 

What should I expect from the World Character Transfer Process?

The World Character Transfer process WILL transfer your character with all of its experience, rank, items, and quest progression intact.  Your friends list, kinship list / association, ignore list, auction house, player-owned housing, and in-game mail WILL NOT be transferred. If you transfer a character that owns a house, the house will be lost. Your character's Skirmish history will NOT transfer.

Current turnaround for all Premium Services is about 2 weeks. This is due to the large volume of requests we currently have, as well as some delays due to the recent downtimes - character transfers & renames can't be done if the worlds are down.

The system currently provides a confirmation page if the request is received, but no confirmation email.

You'll receive an email confirmation once it's been processed. That's also when you will be charged.

 

 

How long will it take to process this request?

We have pulled some resources to help resolve standard account issues in a more timely fashion. What this means for our Premium Service customers is that there may be a slightly longer delay for all Premium Service requests. These requests may take up to a week or two to process. Unfortunately, these delays are necessary to allow us to properly support standard issues.

 

 

LOTRO World Character Transfer Policies

This service will allow you to request a World Character Transfer for The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™ (LOTRO). World Character Transfer services are subject to Turbine’s Terms of Service ,the LOTRO End User License Agreement and Code of Conduct.  

Characters can be transferred if:

  • The world that the player is requesting to transfer is currently accepting new characters.
  • The character has not been transferred in the past 45 days.
  • A review of the players account does not reveal any (current and/or previous) Terms of Service or Code of Conduct violations.
  • The player account has a valid credit card on file.

In addition to Turbine’s Terms of Service, the following terms and conditions will apply to all fee based game services described on this website (the “Premium Services”). In the event of a conflict between Turbine’s Terms of Service and these terms and conditions, these terms and conditions will apply.

  • World Character Transfers are irreversible.
  • World Character Transfer fees are non-refundable.
  • Turbine will not transfer characters from one account to another.
  • Turbine reserves the right to deny a World Character Transfer request for any reason in its sole and absolute discretion.

Restoration will not be possible for items or quest progress lost during a World Character Transfer.

A World Character Transfer will result in the removal of any current kinship affiliation. Kinships may be recreated on the destination world (i.e., each character comprising the kinship must be transferred to the new world pursuant to the terms hereof and the kinship can be recreated).

A World Character Transfer will result in the removal of any on-going auctions and any mail contained within mailbox. In the event that payment for a World Character Transfer is disputed or withdrawn, Turbine reserves the right to temporarily or permanently suspend the Turbine subscription(s) associated with that transaction. Payment Policy for All Premium Services Turbine is not responsible for any overdraft fees resulting from customers using cards with insufficient balances to cover the above costs.

It is the sole responsibility of the customer to ensure funds are prepared to cover all applicable fees. All Premium Services are subject to a "No Refunds" policy. Character Transfers are available for the price of $24.95 USD. Please note that all premium services are subject to Turbine's Terms of Service.

 

 

What if someone else already has my name on the destination server?

If your character name is already in use on the destination server you will be automatically be assigned a free rename credit. The rename credit will allow you to rename your character by typing  /changename newname (replacing "newname" with the name you would like your character to have) in the chat window command line. You will only have access to use the /changename command until a valid new name is obtained successfully.  Please use the /changename command wisely as this credit has a one-time use.  If you make a typo or choose a name you are not satisfied, with we will be unable to credit a refund.  

 

 

Do all my belongings come with my character?

Yes. All of your inventory and equipped items will transfer with your character.  

 

 

It says 'Worn Items and Inventory Items will be transferred'. Does this mean that Vault Items will not be transferred?

Vault items WILL be transferred.

Things that will NOT be transferred include:

  • Outstanding auction items and bids
  • Money and Items not yet detached in mail
  • Friends Lists
  • Destiny Points
  • Player-owned housing
  • Player-owned housing Items left inside a player-owned house (this includes decorations and items inside the storage chests, as well as items left in escrow)
  • Kinship/Tribe information and status
  • Skirmish history



Do I need to be logged into the game to get transferred to the new server?

You do not need to be logged into the game to get transferred to the new server. Please feel free to play any characters on your account any time you'd like (including the character to be transferred). If you are online during the transfer process, you will be contacted by a Turbine Support Rep.

 

 

Can I transfer a monster play character with a LOTRO World Character Transfer?

Yes. Monster play characters can be transferred with a LOTRO World Character Transfer. Please note that two monster play characters of the same class cannot exist on the same account on the same server at any given time. For example, if you already have an Orc Reaver on Landroval, you cannot transfer a new Orc Reaver to Landroval.  

 

 

Is it possible to use Game Cards to purchase Premium Services?

No. Major Debit/Credit cards must be used to purchase Premium Services.

 

 

Can I transfer a character from one account to another?

It is not possible to transfer any character from one account to another. This is a service which we hope to offer in the future.

 

I recently transferred a character from one server to another and had to change her name as it was taken. I found out about the lotteries a few days ago and that is when I found out that she is not showing under her new name on her new server. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

No, there is nothing you can do to resolve this; however, this is something we have a fix pending for and hope to push out in the very near future.
